Linda G by the Sea
Arrived in Antigonish, Nova Scotia yesterday to work with Linda on her “Last Dog of War” show that she’s presenting at Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre. Had a tech last night and it went well, althought we had to redesign the show since the makeshift “Second Stage” does not have a grid.
I spent the last week in Cape Breton with my family and had the great opportunity to see “Marion Bridge” produced in downtown Sydney. There isn’t a lot of theatre that goes on in Sydney, most theatre happens as part of the Univeristy, on campus, some few miles “out the highway”. And it was a really wonderful production. Simply done without sentimentality. And to hear the text in the dialect in which it was written was very special. Spoken in a natural way - no one was “doing” an accent - just using the natural voice. The audience was 8 to 86 and they were engaged. Good theatre.
