Who’s The Doctor? by Rob
Our wonderful costume designer Shawn Kerwin and I on the set. I’ve known Shawn since the 80’s when we worked together on Martin Kinch’s production of “The Glass Menagerie” at Theatre Calgary. Another good preview last night, every day another step forward. Iris insisted I don’t go to the preview today. She says it’s time I go from “micro to macro” and I need some distance. Makes sense. Although I was on the phone with Caroline at 8:30 this morning giving notes. Ah well such is the life.

Funnily enough, Shawn was Costume Designer on the first show I ever SM’ed in university. It was The Scottish Play (yes, that one) Directed by…Martin Kinch. The synchronicity of our theatre community never ceases to amaze me.
February 28th, 2010 at 1:51 pmActually Rob, I did set & costumes and we got all of the students in the visual art department at Memorial to design weapons….that production of the Scottish play is still ,to me, the most interesting version I have ever seen and NOT because I did sets and costumes!
In the present however, without sounding like a Pollyanna, it is such a joy to be able to collaborate with people over a period of years. As I get older I appreciate this more and more. Who knew life could be so rich? Thanks Rob for the photo and thanks Daniel for posting it.
